Can-Do-It Farm Summer Riding Camp
The Can-Do-It Farm Summer Riding Camp for girls is located in beautiful Ashtabula County, Ohio. 125 Acres of farmland make up this camp. Established in 1975, the Farm is owned by Norm and Candy Stokes . This camp was started to give young girls a place to go in the summer where camp is all about horses. Every camper is assigned her own horse, along with everything she will need to care for and ride that horse during the week-long (or longer) stay at the camp. We promise to keep our Summer Camp the dream that your daughter is looking for; Riding lessons, friends that love horses as much as she does, a loving horse to call her own during her stay at the camp, a counselor that will teach her all about caring for and riding that horse, and a family atmosphere that will make her feel at home on her first day at the camp. Whether you are a mother looking for a camp that will make sure your daughter rides safely, or a camper looking for an exciting camp that is all about horses, the Can-Do-It Farm will be here for you this season. Registration for campers is now underway.
Candy Stokes has been the camp director since 1975. Her goal? to be sure that every young lady that wants to learn about and ride horses has her chance to do so. After many years, students from all over the world have attended our riding camp. Many campers return year after year to renew friendships and see all of the horses again. We now have children of our campers attending sessions. What a great compliment. The campers may attend one week, or several weeks during the summer months. Camp runs every week throughout the summer. Our camper to counselor ratio is low. We only take 5-15 campers each week, and we employee 3-4 counselors and teachers working with the girls. SEI certified helmets are required, (and supplied by the Farm) for every rider, regardless of their ability level or age. Girls may attend from age 8 to age 21. There are several camps that are geared towards the beginner riders who have no experience, and camps that center on jumping, dressage, and cross-country work for the more advanced riders. There is even a special "show" week this season for girls of any experience that would like to participate in a show at the end of their week of camp. Special camps will take riders over the age of 21 (just ask when registering). A very special week of Advanced Training will be offered during the week of June 14-20, 2009. This week will offer riders who already have basic skills a chance to learn more advanced skills. It will be geared towards riders 13 years old and over, who wish to learn about training, teaching, jumping, cross-country riding, dressage basics, and skills that will be needed for those who may want to attend a college equestrian course. Maybe your camper wants a "just plain fun" week of fun? There are several weeks geared toward the rider of any age who just wants to RIDE!. We teach basics in all weeks, and beginners are welcome in many weeks. By talking with Candy about each week, she will help campers and parents decide on which week is best for your rider. Our goal is to be sure everyone is content and happy at camp. With only 5-15 girls in each week, this can be done.
