June 24th week of 2012...special added week for Girl Scouts and Day Campers to sign up in advance..440-858-2244  ******

It is time again to begin thinking about a date for your Girl Scout Troop to attend a riding program at CDI Farm.  Prices for 2012 will remain the same as last season.  Reservations begin on Jan. 2, 2012, at 10am (Please do not email for a reservation, as I need to talk with you on the phone for confirmation of a date that is available. )  440-858-2244 is the phone number to call, and Candy is the Camp Director who can take your reservations. (Please don't use my cell phone number for reservations, as I can only talk on one phone at a time..:)  16 minimum for an overnight program.

Pick a couple of dates before you call in, just in case one of the days you want is already booked.  We book early, and most spring dates are taken within weeks of opening registration  .  We do have fall programs that you can also book when you call.   Deposits are required after booking, and no refunds are given for cancellations. (Deposits can be moved to another open date during the season in case you need to change your date of arrival)  I hope to see all of you next season...

Insurance Release Form  (Needed for all riders, signed by both biological parents and collected by your leaders)

In business since 1975, we enjoy helping each girl earn their Badges for Girl Scouting programs.  This is an easy, informative, and fun overnight session for all of the participants.  Beginners will feel right at home.  All of your meals are provided for you.  Give us a call to reserve a date for your troop.  And in 2012, riding programs are not just limited to Girl Scouts, but to ANY group that can get 16-20 riders together...Note that we only have one bunkhouse, so all group members must be girls (or ladies)  please.   Ages 8-?...No riders over 200 lbs please, for your own safety.   You can follow the notes on Scout programs for information and prices for next season, as they will not change....

So, Church Groups, 4-h groups, or just family and friends can make a riding overnight program.  Just call for reservations January 2 or later.

Girl scout riders are welcome to sign up for our summer camp programs that run weekly throughout the summer.  Go to our Summer camp page for more information on the week-long riding camps for girls 8 and over.  (Scout badges can be earned during our summer camp sessions also)

Scout programs will begin booking on January 2,2012.

If you have a Girl Scout Troop that would love to spend an overnight with the horses, just call the Farm for an appointment in January 2012.  440-858-2244

Can-Do-It Farm is a 125-acre Farm located in Ashtabula County, Ohio, approximately 50 miles West of Erie, Pa, and 50 miles East of Cleveland, Ohio.  Easy access to I-90 and Route 11 makes the Farm available for many regions of Girl Scouts in the area.  We specialize in horse riding, care and management, and summer horse camp for girls.  We have been in business since 1975, serving Girl Scouts for many, many years.  Our only activity, involves working and learnnig about Horses.  Everything is supplied for your troop to enjoy a great overnight, or even a 3-hour lesson .  Safety helmets, riding instructors, meals and a bunkhouse are provided for this program.  I have listed the two programs offered this season below. An indoor arena is availabe for those bad-weather days, and several outdoor rings are used for teaching your girls to ride and enjoy horses safely.  Trail riding is not offered in these programs, as safety is or most important issue on the Farm.  Whether your daughter is a beginner, or advanced rider, the program offers them a good time with the horses. If your rider wants   M O R E  hoses, consider the summer riding camp at the Farm.   All day, every day, we spend the week with horses .  Learning all about their care and comfort...riding them...and just loving these magnificant animals.

Program #1  Overnight Adventure for 2012 outings... $65 per rider,  $35 non rider fee and mimimum of 16 riders.  (Maximum of 24 riders)  *including participating adults

This overnight program takes place in the Spring and Fall of each year.  As a leader, you only need to assemble 16 riders to participate in this session.  You may find another troop to join with yours, or include mothers of the girls to ride with them.  After calling the Farm for available dates, you will need to send a $100 deposit to secure your overnight.  a "troop form" is available on the forms page for you to fill out and return with your deposit.  Please do this within 10 days of reservations, as dates will fill quickly.  The balance of your account will not be due until the day you arriveat the Farm.   If you would call the Farm a week before you arrive, this would help in arranging meals and workers.  Girls that participate must be 8 years old and over. Riders may not be more than 200 lbs to participate in the "mounted" portion of the overnight.  (they may pay to be a non-rider, which is $35, and participate in ground lessons with the troop)  Leaders are responsible for collecting Insurance Release Forms from each family member that will be involved in the program.  Forms are availalble on the Forms Page, and they are 2-page forms.  Both biological parents must sign the release form for girls to attend. As troop leader, you may collect them and bring them with you the day of the program.  When dates are filled, we will begin a waiting list. Please book early,  as programs fill quickly.   call 440-858-2244 and ask for Candy or Norm to book a date for this overnight experience.  Your girls will have a great time, and so will you !!

PROGRAM #2   A new 2-night overnight $140 per rider ($75 for a non-rider)  New for 2012, an outing for troops of 16-20 riders who want to stay at the Farm for two nights.  Arrival Friday night, 5pm and departure is Sunday afternoon at 1pm.  Everything is included in this outing; horses, equipment, safety helmets, meals and snacks, mounted riding lessons, ground lessons, and special horsemanship lessons..including 6 meals (along with snacks.)  Two overnight stays in our bunkhouse, 5 riding sessions and many ground lessons; horsemanship classes are included, (teaching the girls how to care for their horse, including training and medical information)  Badge work covered, and lots of extras included.  A free 4x6 picture of each girl is included with this program.  (a normal $2.50 each charge)  Go to the Girl Scout Program page for more information, and a sign-up coupon.  Leaders must call early to book this program, and there is a $150 deposit required.  16 min rider fee....

*  Insurance Forms are needed for both programs.  Please be sure that each participant has a signd form that was read and understood by each parent sending a girl to the program.  This is the job of the troop leader.

*  Girls will need to wear long pants to ride in.  If participating in an overnight program, bring basic needs for bunkhouse.  Sleeping bag, extra jacket or coat in case it gets cold, and clean-up kit.  The bunkhouse has heating, and sheets are provided for each bunk. There is no air conditioning in the bunkhouse.   No electrical appliances should be brought to the bunhouse; as all meals will be supplied with the program.  Hard soled shoes are requested for riding.  Do not buy anything special, just a loafer, saddle shoe, or any hard soled shoe will do.  No fashion boots please.  Any shoe with a small heal "catch" is fine.  This is for your safety.

* Deposits of $100  (150 for 2 night stay)  must be sent to the farm 10 days after registration.  Those troops not sending in deposits will be cancelled.  Please call the Farm if you have forgotten to send deposits to see if your date is still open. Deposits are non-refundable. (may be transferred to another date)

* Please call the Farm with total number of riders and non riders that are anticipated a week before your troop arrives so arrangements may be made for riding teachers and meals.  16-24    (440-858-2244)

* Be sure to download the driving directions from the forms page.  As we are located in a rural town, some signs are not posted, and some roads are listed as numbers instead of names if you try to "google" a map.  So I have printed out a map to help everyone find us.  It won't hurt to take a copy along with you, just in case.  For those with GPS, the address is:  2279 East Union Road, Jefferson, Ohio 44047

* Troops should try hard to arrive at the proper time, as we may have other programs that come close to your time slots.  Overnight troops will have dinner ready at 5pm, so arrival at 4:45 is ok for them.  I know that it is hard to anticipate travel times, trafic and weather, be please give us a call if you will be  Late For Dinner ..As some construction will occur during the spring and summer on our roads, please check the Forms page for updates on driving directions.  .. Thanks from the cook
