Day camp for 2012 is getting ready for summer! . Next season: Monday through Friday, 10am-4pm ..$45.00 per rider. Call for reservations on Sunday evening if you wish to reserve a horse for the entire week....Or you may call Monday through Friday of the week you wish to ride. (note that June 24th is a special day camp week..you may call ahead of time to reserve a spot for a day camp any day that week!) Day camps should begin around June 12th of this season, and continue through August 19th. Lots of days to enjoy the horses!. Safety helmets are required, and will be provided for the campers if they do not have their own. You may also purchase a helmet at the Tack Shop that is located on the Camp. Everything is supplied for the camper during her stay.
Summer days are filled with horses at Can-Do-It Farm. If your daughter is 8 years old or older, she is eligible to attend a day camp at the Farm. Riders under the age of 8 may take 1/2 hour "Pee Wee" lessons by appointment for $20. Just call to set up a lesson with one of our counselors. Day Camps will cost you $45 in 2012 each day you attend. You sign up by calling the farm, just a few days before you wish to attend, and asking for a reservation for a weekday (Monday through Friday). Camps only run during the summer, while our resident camps are in session. Arrival time is10am, and departure time is 4pm. Parents may drop campers at the Farm at 10am. Campers who can't be picked up by4, can make arrangements to pay for an extra hour ($8/hour) to help with parents schedules. This must be arranged with the camp director before campers are left in the mornings. All parents must sign-in and "sign-out" when attending day camps. Please stop in the Tack Shop before leaving your child for camp. You must pick her up in the Tack Shop yourself, or make arrangments with the Staff to have someone other than you (mom or dad) pick up your child.
Insurance Release forms are necessary, and must be signed by both biological parents on the first day of arrival. Campers may then attend day camps throughout the summer, and no other forms are necessary.
The day begins with sign-in at 10am in the Tack Shoppe, located on the Farm. A counselor will then escort your girls to their first tacking and learning session, followed by a morning riding lesson. (note that advanced riders may join into a lesson with resident campers). Basic skills are taught, along with some trail riding and horseback games also. English riding is taught, however, we do have equipment for Western riders if they prefer.. and all tack and equipment is supplied for the campers. Helmets are required, (English and Western) and provided for those who do not have their own. You may purchase your own private helmet from the Tack Shop if you wish, but it is not necessary. After morning lesson, a ground lesson will teach your camper about caring for their horses. Lunch is provided at noon, and after lunch, another riding session. Trail riding, games and lessons are usually the program for the after-lunch sessions. When campers are finished with the afternnon ride, they are taught to care for their horse, untack, wash and feed their horse. Pick-up time is 4pm, and parents must go to the Tack Shop again to pick up their campers. A special "sign-in and out" is necessary for pick-up of campers. Please stop into the Tack Shop for information. If parents are going to be late or early, they must make arrangements with the Camp Director... $8.00 per hour is the cost for extra time.(before 10am and after 4pm is extra time) .. Thank you
Each day is separate. Reservations must be made a few days ahead of time for day camps. Safety is very important. Students must wear safety helmets that are certified (and supplied if students do not have one). Long pants for riding, and hard-soled shoes are necessary. (boots are sold at the Tack Shop on the Farm if you like) Campers may bring their own helmets, breeches, and saddles if they have them. If not, CDI will provide helmets and saddles for you. Day campers are not permitted to jump unless they are regular riding students on this Farm (weekly lessons), or have been or are campers during the current season at CDI. This will allow us to evaluate their skills before jumping any fences. Flat lessons, trails, and dressage will be offered during day camps. If you wish to jump our horses, please attend a "jumping" camp at the Farm, or take private lessons weekly for instruction. This is FOR YOUR SAFETY!
We hope to see you at the Farm this summer. Remember to call just a few days ahead of time, to make sure we have an opening for your campers.
*Note: this summer, we are again offering Back-to-Back day camps for those girls 8 and up who would like to "try" an overnight experience. By reservation only, your camper may stay one night only for $125. Five riding sessions and all meals and equipment and lessons are provided for your camper. Drop off is 10 am on a weekday, and pickup time is 4 pm the next day. This camp may only be used one time per week during the summer months. Please call ahead of time (about a week) to reserve a bunk and horse for your girl.
We have an indoor riding ring for rainy days. Riders will be supplied with a horse, and personal horses can not be trailered in for day camps. (Resident campers may bring their own horses for a week-long or longer stay)
